Marblehead Rotary Club participates in the
Rotary Youth Exchange program of Rotary District 7930. We give high-school students the opportunity to explore a new culture, learn a new language, and discover themselves through a long-term or short-term cultural exchange and service trip
.
Every school year we enable one student from Marblehead High School to experience an entire school year abroad and also host a student from another country in Marblehead, where they attend classes at Marblehead High School and live with three host families throughout the course of the year.
Students
An exciting adventure awaits you, as a potential Rotary exchange student, you look to expand your horizons as they've never been expanded before. We invite you to explore our
District 7930 Youth Exchange website, learn more about the program, and, if it's right for you, take those first steps toward one of the most amazing, memorable, adventurous years of your life.
Rotary’s Long-Term Exchange presents opportunities for high school students to advance their education, become a better person, and contribute to world understanding by allowing them to attend school in a different country. Students live with host families in their adopted land under the sponsorship and supervision of the local host Rotary Club. It is our hope that these students will be able to see firsthand the problems and accomplishments of other people of different colors, creeds, and cultures.
Because of the lengthy history of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, our long-term exchange program is the largest in the world, giving about 9,000 students each year the opportunity to study abroad. And because arrangements are made by local Rotarians, it is also one of the safest youth exchange programs in the world.

Application forms for both the short-term (= 3-4 weeks in the summer) and the long-term (= an entire school year) program can be found here:
Application deadline for the long-term program is November 1st of the prior year, so for the 2020-21 school year, we need to receive your application by November 1st, 2019!
Application deadline for the short-term program is March 31st of the same year, so for the summer 2020 applications can be sent in January - March of 2020.
Host Families
Hosting a Youth Exchange student from another country is a challenge—and an opportunity. Involvement with an exchange student challenges a host family to become familiar with another culture, while providing the opportunity to share a student's hopes and ambitions. These challenges and opportunities promise to enrich the lives of every member of your family.
Because Rotary exchanges with more countries than any other exchange organization, you could have a student from one of 163 countries living in your home. Not only will you provide an unforgettable service to a student from abroad, but you also will educate your family about the world around them.
